Badminton in schools across Dorset

Kirsty delivers quality badminton sessions in schools right around the county, for every age from nursery to sixth form. The clubs are hugely popular, and they link directly to evening and weekend classes for pupils who want to take it further.

A whole school, on court

Sessions are planned to the ability in the room, so a class of complete beginners and a squad of keen players both get a lesson pitched exactly right. Kirsty sets up the courts, groups the children, tracks their progress and keeps the whole class involved and enthusiastic from the first minute.

She is flexible with numbers and groupings, reliable and punctual, and works happily across curriculum PE and extra-curricular clubs. Schools book her to cover racket sports in the curriculum, or to add an engaging after-school activity that children genuinely look forward to.

What teachers say

Kirsty has been visiting our school annually for five years and is a wonderful coach. Her sessions let the children consolidate their skills while having loads of fun, and you see them visibly improve session to session. She is always flexible with numbers and groupings, and is a warm, positive leader with pupils of all abilities. I recommend her highly to any school wishing to cover racket sports.

Sarah PainterYear 5 & 6 Teacher, Corfe Castle Primary

Kirsty has been a fabulous badminton coach for my class of 6 and 7 year olds. Her sessions are exciting, varied and progressive. She sets up the courts, works with children of different abilities and monitors their progress, planning skilful activities that keep their enthusiasm up. The children are always excited when they realise they have a badminton lesson with Kirsty.

The service you provide as part of our extra-curricular programme ensures many of our students gain access to quality coaching. It also gives them the opportunity to join external clubs in the area through your knowledge and guidance. Our aim of encouraging them to remain active through sport into their adult lives is enhanced by the essential work that you do.

Beyond the school day

Holiday camps and tournaments keep young players on court through the school breaks, and give them somewhere to test what they've learned.

Junior holiday camps

Camps run through the school holidays and mix technical and tactical drills with team building, problem solving and plenty of matchplay, in a fun, safe and positive environment. Other coaches assist, so Kirsty can work with smaller groups and coach to what each player actually needs.

Tournaments

Junior tournaments run during the school holidays: a great way to apply training in a competitive environment. Adult tournaments run throughout the year too, both social events and competitions for club and county players.

Kirsty's aim is longevity: players who keep enjoying sport for life. It's a great social game for meeting like-minded people, and she'll help you improve your skills and grow in confidence along the way.

Bring badminton to your school

Tell Kirsty about your school, the year groups involved and the slot you have in mind. She'll come back with options, including a free taster session.
